Vortex 250 pro

After the humongous success of their first drone (The Vortex 285), the ImmersionRC team took their ears over to the professional pilots to bring a fantastic, high-level product to the market. Sleek but simple design supports an extremely durable craft with well-integrated subsystems that hold a huge number of amazing quality of life benefits. The quad is forgiving for newer racers, but retains the kick needed to actually win races.

The Vortex 250 Pro is a ready-to-fly machine. Housing an integrated flight controller, full-graphic OSD, BlackBox recorder, 40-channel transmitter, etc., you would expect it would require regular maintenance to ensure its proper function. However, it’s a pleasant surprise to find out that this simply isn’t the case. Maintenance is a necessary evil required for all machinery and electronics, but ImmersionRC did a wonderful job at minimizing it.

One of the key features of this device is its amazingly solid construction. Home to a 2mm carbon fiber top and bottom plate as well as 2 mm-thick FR4 skid plates, the casing is difficult to seriously damage. 4mm-thick carbon fiber motor arms also help prevent destructing motor torsion.

Take a look at some of the key features / specifications of this UAV:

    Ready to fly!
Sleek Carbon Fiber and other durable design decisions
Top Speed: ~60 mph (~96 kph)
    Motors: 2204-2300 (bidirectional)
Fusion FC (F3 class processor, compatible with CleanFlight)
Integrated flash memory for BlackBox log storage
Integrated 5.8GHz video transmitter with 40 channel support, compatible with any 5.8 GHz A/V receiver
Dynamic Power Control (transmitter power is adjusted based on state of the quad, helping reduce interference with other pilots)
Comes with RaceBand, which allows 8 pilots to fly together
Camera mount on a protective plate; most cameras can fit
2nd Gen custom 20A ESCs with a 32-bit ARM processor running each
Full-graphic OSD, provides in-flight updates of critical parameters. All options can be programmed in the field using the R/C transceiver and goggles / LCD screen
7 ARM processors in total, 4 for the ESCs, 1 for FC, 1 for full-graphic OSD, and one for LED board on the back of the quad

One of the coolest aspects of this drone are the custom ESCs with their own dedicated ARM processors. For those of you interested in customizing your quads, this setup gives you more than enough power to deal with even the most obnoxious of brushless motors. This is an example of the thought that went into this product. Quality of life decisions like this brings out an easily customizable product with an enormous amount of staying power. A custom flight controller that’s compatible with CleanFlight, a preset camera mount that can hold just about any camera, the full-graphic OSD that helps troubleshoot issues; all of these little additions tacked onto this dependable product makes the Vortex 250 Pro an easy recommendation for anyone interested in drone racing.
