Two of the world’s top pilots, Luke Bannister and his fellow racer Brett Collins met up to display their abilities at the Dronekhana, an obstacle course that was brought into being through the help of Ford. Dubbed Dronekhana as an homage to the Gymkhana popularized by Ken Block, a famous rally car racer who awed the world with his amazing drifts around an obstacle course.
The race begins with a robotic arm swinging a checkered flag signalling to the pilots, who proceed to fly through a number of different vehicles (including a Focus RS that is mid-drift). All of the footage captured was taken with 36 different GoPro cameras located at key positions around the course. As you can see for yourself in the video, some clever editing creates some amazing matrix-esque effects from these positions.
The Dronekhana was filmed at Ford’s European headquarters in Cologne, Germany. The skillful piloting brought around some seriously amazing video for you to watch. Luke Bannister had this to say: “It was a tough course and we had some mishaps – but at least the Mustang’s all right, that’s all that matters.”
