The International Drone Expo (IDE), one of the largest gatherings of leading members in the UAV community, recently announced its 2016 show activations. On the program is their first ever Drone Racing Cup, set to take place December 9-10 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The IDE’s race will be one of the very few actually sanctioned in Los Angeles, and it will feature a challenging setup with demanding obstacles, as well as display monitors so that spectators can enjoy the first person view.
As is the standard for most drone races nowadays, pilots will qualify in order to be placed in heats, and the fastest racers in those heats will be crowned the victors. On top of the obstacle race is, of course, the freestyle event, where pilots are judged on their ability to perform tricks and control their craft.
On top of their performance events are the panels, workshops, and meetups for drone enthusiasts everywhere. “As the leading drone expo, we strive to showcase the cutting edge innovations and exceptional capabilities of unmanned aerial vehicles,” said Ned Krause of IDE. “The all-new and upgraded activations, coupled with keynotes, workshops and high-level seminars led by industry experts, encompass the best of today’s UAVs and the innovation we can look forward to in the near future.”
Registration for the event is available now, and their 2016 program schedule is available here
